After high school, Jared Hammock never thought the opportunity would arise to play college basketball.
Hammock, originally from Melbourne, Fla., played high school basketball at Covenant Christian. As a senior, he led the county in several statistical categories.
But after his high school career, Hammock did not believe he possessed what it took to be a part of head coach Bo Clark’s system at Flagler College.

After having their first winning season in team history last year, the Flagler College softball team is determined to keep improving.
Last season, the team finished with a record of 28-24, resulting in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Peach Belt Conference. This season Flagler is picked to finish fifth in the conference, but head coach Kristen Overton has better expectations for her team.

Golf players discuss success on the course

Growing up in Sweden, Elin Karlsson lived right next to a beautiful golf course.
“My dad used to bring me to that great golf course, and that is where I found out that I really enjoyed playing the game,” Karlsson said.
Karlsson began excelling in golf and believed that her best opportunity was in America. She then decided to move to here to attend Flagler College to play golf.

The Flagler College Saints softball team (28-12, 4-6 Peach Belt Conference) will have a test with No. 24 (NFCA/ Div. II Top 25) Armstrong Atlantic State University on Saturday, March 26.
The Saints, who lost two games to Florida-Tech on March 24 will have to face a hot Armstrong Atlantic (20-4, 5-1 Peach Belt Conference) team that has won an exceptional eight-of-its-last-10 games, coming off a sweep of Mid-American Nazarene University.

Born in Zadar, Croatia, Ante Gospic’s dream was to get a college education in America.
“I remember watching American college movies and I wanted to be just like the actors,” said the 21-year-old Flagler junior, who will suit up for the men’s basketball team this fall.

“I felt honored to be chosen since there are a lot of really good players in our conference,” she said.

Cameron and Brittany began playing soccer at the age of five, using their older sister and father who played soccer as an inspiration.
“I always loved watching them play, and it’s one of those family things where you see how successful your siblings are in something, and you just admire it and hope to do the same,” Brittany said.

Flagler College women’s head volleyball Coach Taylor Mott has announced her resignation, effective at the end of the year. Mott and her family will relocate to Tennessee where her husband, Brian, has taken a job.
“We had to make the decision that was best for our family,” she said. “It was not the decision we were hoping for, but we will make the best of it.”

The Saints are now a disappointing 2-17 on the season, with a current seven game losing streak.

College athletic department announced the hiring of former University of Wisonsin assistant coach Brian Heffernan to lead the women’s volleyball team.

I really hate waking up to my alarm clock, especially at 5:30 in the morning, but waking up to the great James Taylor made it just a little bit better.
Today, though, was not just an ordinary day. I didn’t really care what time it was.
It was the day where I would witness the world’s biggest spectacle of racing and rednecks — the Daytona 500.

Flagler College senior Donna Munafo is proving that hard work really does pay off.
Munafo spent her high school softball career being the second or third best pitcher for Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, Florida.

Munafo spent her high school softball career being the second or third best pitcher for Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, Florida.
The other pitchers on her high school softball team had played softball their entire life, whereas, Munafo focused her younger years on soccer and dance.
